Founder of Ontopsychology and author of over forty books, translated into English, French, German, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, and Chinese.
Meneghetti obtained his first Doctorate, in Social Sciences, in 1967 and his second Doctorate, in Philosophy, in 1969 from the Pontifical University Saint Thomas Aquinas in Rome (PUST). As he was pursuing these studies, he attended classes and took tests to obtain a Doctorate in Theology at the Pontifical Lateran University (PLU), graduating in 1969. In 1971 he graduated in Philosophy with a special focus on psychology at the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart in Milan. While still a student, he was asked by the School of Philosophy at PUST to recommend non-mandatory courses to be held during the first two years of the degree. He accepted and became visiting professor. He taught the following courses: Fundamentals of pastoral psychology; Rogers’s Client-centered therapy; Ontopsychology of man. The experience of these courses translated into his first book, which was entitled in fact. “Ontopsychology of man”. All students appreciated his innovative approach to explaining, developing a lesson, establishing a rapport. Many requested to have him as director of studies for their thesis. In 1994 he received a Honoris Causa degree in Physics from ProDeo University in New York for his discovery of the Semantic field. In 1998, following the discussion of a thesis on “Existence as a contradiction and meeting of Being in human hypostasis” he received the title of Grand Doktor Nauk in Psychological Sciences from the Supreme Interaccademic Court of the Russian Federation (Protocol 0104). In the same year he received also the titles of Grand Doctor of Philosophy and Doctor Philosophy of Medical from the International Academy of Informatization. He has received repeatedly the Culture Award from the Presidency of the Council of Ministers of the Italian Republic (1980, 1987, 1989). Chairman of the International Ontopsychology Association (NGO in Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations), Academician and Vice President of the International Academy of Informatization (NGO in General Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations), he formalized his basic concept to draw a distinction between ontic information and memetic information. He identified and described the mechanics of the monitor of deflection and isolated the identity and characteristics of the unit of action that prompts man to act in accordance with the project of nature: the Ontic In Itself. At the beginning of the 1990s, he started to shift his thinking toward sociology, underscoring the important relationship between man and society and emphasizing – in keeping with his original intention – the psychology of self-fulfillment and creativity, with man as leader in his microcosm and in the macrocosm. Meneghetti places great value in humanistic ethics based on the methods of Ontopsychology, especially if such ethics is embraced by healthy men, who put their leadership capabilities at the service of mankind and society. Meneghetti never needed public subsidies. He dislikes assistentialism and stresses instead personal responsibility. He knows very well, by direct experience, the psychologies and behaviors of such different people as the Chinese, Japanese, USA, Latin American, various African cultures, Arab, English, Russian. Today, he is widely consulted as an expert in leadership and, through his ideas and teaching, he stimulates leading-edge scientific, artistic, entrepreneurial, political and eco-biological activities.
